Super 32

Super 32's will take place for the Super 32 Belt. This is a tournament for the best in the youth leagues as well as one for the highschoolers. This brings in ranked kids from all over the nation to test their strengths against the others. They will try to climb the ranks to look better for the colleges to watch. For example, out of the twenty-five ranked wrestlers in the nation, twenty-three of them will make the trip to North Carolina for this tournament. I love watching this tournament as some of my friends have won it in the youth division, and we have always sent a team out there to compete.

NWCA All Star Classic

The NWCA Classic is one of the best wrestling to watch for the upcoming college season. We get to see some star-studded matches that could be the NCAA finals matches for the title. The match I will be watching closely is Penn State's Levi Haines vs Ohio State's Rocco Welsh. Rocco was a true freshman last year who had an outstanding year at 174 pounds. Rocco took second facing a four-time NCAA champion last year. Haines was also a finalist but in the lower weight class. This should be an awesome matchup as both wrestlers are young and looking forward to claiming the title soon.

2024 World Team Trials

These past few days the USA World Team Trials were hosted in Omaha. We saw some veteran Olympians compete, as well as some past competitors and college wrestlers. We saw some big named guys like Seth Gross and Austin Desanto get knocked out by some young wrestlers like Marcus Blaze. Marcus was one of the shocking winners in the 61-kilogram bracket as the weight was stacked with great wrestlers. We saw highschooler Jax Forrest take third and take down some more experienced guys that most people expected him to. Returning gold Olympian Jordan Bourroughs made his presence known and made it to the finals as he was set to rematch the person responsible for his last loss.

Who's Number 1?

This week we get to see a exciting match ups as some of the best highschoolers from around will compete in Flo Wrestling's Who's Number 1. Some of the matchups I am most looking forward to are the number one ranked girl named Jaclyn Bouzakis and number two ranked Hailey Delgado. This will be wrestled at 100 pounds and is exciting because the Bouzakis family has dominated in their high school career, and it would be great to watch her win and major match. Another match I have my eye on is a previous talked about wrestler named Bo Bassett. In this matchup he gets the number two ranked wrestler named Daniel Zepeda from California. Should be an explosive matchup and a great last bout for the event.

What If USA Switched To Only Freestyle?

To give you a better understanding of this blog you first must understand something. In the USA all wrestling from junior league to college is a style of wrestling called folkstyle. Folkstyle is a combination of both Olympic style wrestling called freestyle and Greco-Roman. You only train freestyle in the summer in the U.S. so it gives us a huge disadvantage when we go to international competition. With the USA team still does well and always is near the top. If we were to train only freestyle and Greco-Roman we would be one of the most unstoppable forces to compete. Seeing that we only train freestyle for half the year as kids if you are even wrestling year-round and we still come near the top, I think there is no question we would always be at the top.

U20 World's Completed

Team USA had a great showing, and some are calling it close to one of the best. Every single men’s freestyle wrestler placed top three except one. We had one gold medalist, that being Luke Lilledahl. Team USA also had four silver medalists and four bronze medalists. This year we took home a total of 9 medals which is insane. Bo Bassett, who I have previously talked about came in third but had an impressive U20 none the less. Penn State's commits looked good at this competition making them look even scarier for the upcoming season. They are going to be a force this year and could absolutely walk through the Big Ten. Overall had a great performance last week and it shows a promising future for Team USA.

U20 World Happening Now

The U20 World Championships are currently still going on. They have wrestled the Greco Roman weights and Team USA did pretty well. This has never been our strong event even at the olympic level. We did secure some silver and bronze medals. The women's division is currently happening right now and we have already secured medals. Some of which are chances for gold or silver. The talk about the men's freestyle team is that this might be the best line up to do it. They have a special chance to take the most medals and cement their legacy. Again, I am really excited to watch Bo Bassett wrestle and Marcus Blaze.

AJ Ferrari Stays Hot

AJ Ferrari just called out one of the best wrestlers there is to do it. Carter Starocci who is a 4-time national at 174 pounds. There has been a lot of talk about Starocci making a jump up to 197 pounds and how well he would do at this weight. He would also cement his legacy as he would be the first five-time national champion. One of the only people to have a shot at conquering this feat as he gained another year of eligibility from the Covid year. AJ has not wrestled in a while and his tweet made it seem like he was still acting as the top guy. We will see how this plays out this year, but I think AJ just started something he shouldn't have.
